African Lisbon Tour was born in 2015 out of a deep need to challenge the whitewashed and romanticized narratives surrounding Portugal’s colonial and slave trade history. Too often, the voices and experiences of African people have been erased or distorted — and we exist to change that.

Our tours are more than just walking through the streets of Lisbon. They are journeys into hidden truths, unspoken histories, and the enduring legacy of Africa in Portugal. We create a space where real conversations can happen — where history is faced honestly, and healing begins through understanding.

We aim to foster an atmosphere that is both safe and empowering. Participants are encouraged to ask questions, reflect deeply, and connect — not just with the stories shared, but with each other. It’s about reclaiming narratives, uplifting Black voices, supporting Black-owned businesses, and building community that extends far beyond a few hours together.
